If you’re reading this and plan on attending Black Sheep Gathering this year then you might want to play Black Sheep Bingo. All of the details can be found on violinjodie’s blog. If you’re in Ravelry join the Black Sheep Gathering group for more details on who’s going, what classes everyone is taking, whether they’re [...]

Thank you to all for your comments about my brother. There are no guarantees in this life and I only wished he had lived his life differently. Enough said on that. Here we are on New Year’s Eve. It was the perfect evening for us, we were home by 10:30. In my long absense from [...]

This is the end of the Spin to Knit Swap. It would be fun to see what everyone received from the swap and to see what was done with the yarn we all received. Here’s what my secret pal sent for round one, 91 yards of two ply linen. It’s enough to do a washcloth [...]

Here are a couple of samples I knit with the black corriedale and some BFL from another project. Now I want to knit something using these two yarns and this technique at a smaller weight than I have spun up. *Massive sigh* But no, I must use self control and finish the sweater for hubby [...]

I think I’ve finally spun enough of the BFL for this project. There’s still ~200 grams of dyed roving to spin but I’m hoping to spin that for another project. This is the first time I’ve measured and weighed everything before dyeing and spinning. All of the skeins of BFL weigh between 100-105 grams. The [...]

More spinning and dyeing for the De Colores sweater. I dyed four 100 gram pieces of BFL for the sweater on Sunday and now have enough. All that’s left is to spin it up along with the rest of Jordan’s fleece. This is 200 grams of Merino that I’ve had for a few years. Another [...]

I teach sock knitting at the yarn shop in Medford. This time I had an epiphany and didn’t try to have my students knit an adult pair of socks in just three weeks. Instead we knit a very small sock that incorporates all of the parts of a traditional cuff-down sock. It was successful and [...]

Way back when I posted about a sweater that I was knitting – De Colores by Ginger Luter. Well, that sweater didn’t get any further than that post. While I’ve bagged that particular incarnation of the sweater (I was afraid I would look like a giant box of crayons) the project itself has had new [...]

Dyed all of this on Sunday. Looks like a circus doesn’t it. What you can’t see is the rest of Jordan’s fleece drying under this kaleidoscope of color. Wonder what this will look like spun up?

I’ve finally settled on knitting a hat and gloves with the alpaca from my knit, dye, reknit, overdye experiment. On the right is the hat inside out. Once I’m done I’ll overdye them both. Any suggestions are welcome. It was going to be a baby sweater but a very cute 7-year-old said it looked like [...]
